I hired Kate for an expungement of a difficult felony charge. She was successful, my record is now expunged. I came to Conyers & Nix to have my record expunged upon a referral. Garrison & Jesse are awesome!! The prosecutor denied my expungement, So we needed to go to court. I was pretty upset about this and expressed my frustration to Garrison with a few emails, he was so nice about me venting to him and told me that’s what they were there for. I had always been under the impression that criminal defense attorney's were of questionable character, that they helped unseemly types evade justice. But then I had an overzealous detective (from Holladay, UT) cite me for a criminal offense that I simply did not commit. I can't fully express how disappointing it was to discover first-hand that police aren't always interested in facts, fairness or justice. This "detective" wasn't keen on actually doing any detecting at all. He just made a judgement off the cuff and didn't care about the consequences for the people his sloppy decisions impacted. When I questioned him, he even acted like he was doing me a favor by only charging me with one offense. The arrogance and ineptitude was astounding. But either way, I suddenly found myself in need of a good criminal defense attorney. A personal friend in the community recommended Jesse Nix, saying that he was a top-shelf attorney, kind, compassionate, and an all-around great person. I knew that he was exactly who I was looking for from our very first conversation. I had already been hounded by several criminal defense firms who proverbially chase the local paddy wagon for "criminal" clients, but Jesse was nothing like them. Jesse never asked me to hire him at all. In fact, for our first few conversations, he just wanted to listen, answer my questions, and give me some free advice on what options I could expect from the prosecutor's office moving forward. As a person who had never before been the target of police, much less received a criminal citation, Jesse was exactly the calm, insightful advocate I needed in an otherwise exceptionally stressful situation. So I asked him to represent me and he did a phenomenal job. Throughout the process he never made me feel like I was wasting his time. He was patient with my questions, apprehensions and general twitchiness, and he always returned my calls and emails in a timely fashion. But most importantly, he relentlessly pursued the prosecutor assigned to the case and was able to get him to see that I simply didn't do what I was accused of and that the prosecution would lose if my case went to trial. He was convincing and my case was dismissed. Jesse then represented me in the subsequent civil case (which was also resolved favorably), and then he helped me navigate the expungement process so that my clean record remains as such. Simply put, Jesse was absolutely outstanding. I'm sure that there are other quality criminal defense lawyers out there, but I wouldn't trust my legal life to anyone but Jesse Nix and his team. You cannot go wrong here; he is worth every cent. Hopefully I will never need to hire an attorney again, but if I do, I would hire Jesse Nix in heartbeat. He's the one you want on your side.
