Since my release, I have completed my degree in biology from San Francisco State University, maintained a healthy lifestyle with daily exercise and a plant-based diet, and continued to receive counseling and support from professionals who highly recommend me. While I believe the harassment I faced from Napa officers should have been more effectively addressed by the justice system, I’m grateful for the justice I received with Laina’s help. Laina is amazing! I wanted to get my record expunged for employment reasons. She suggested we get my felony reduced to a misdemeanor then have my record expunged so I would get my rights back. I didn't even know that was possible. She asked me to get some letters of character and all my paperwork saying I had completed everything the court required as part of my original sentence. Once I got everything to her I was on the calendar within a few days. We went to court on November 19th and got everything taken care of. My record had been holding me back for years.
